Tribute concert

Balassi Institute proudly recommends a special tribute concert honoring the memory of János Starker, a native of Hungary, who for many of us represented the utmost artistic and human purity, and whose musical career, unforgettable performances and teaching shaped musicians and listeners for three generations. Starker was one of the most influential masters and teachers of the cello in the 20th century, Grammy-winner for his 1992 recording of Bach's solo cello suites, passed away in Bloomington, Indiana on 28 April of this year.

This special concert will honor the memory of Janos Starker, who, with his pianist colleage at IU, György Sebők represented the contributions immigrant Hungarians have been making to American music at its finest.
