Call for scholarship application for the Balassi Summer University

The objective of the scholarship is to improve, broaden and strengthen the Hungarian language skills and cultural knowledge of the participants in the programme. The four-week long course takes place in the MFA in Budapest with the cooperation of the KKM Oktatási és Rekreációs Kft. (KKMOR Kft., a background institution of the MFA).

Individuals entitled to submit their applications are:
- of Hungarian descent, citizens, and residents of the Western diaspora communities, and of minimum 18 years of age, or
- of non-Hungarian descent, citizens and residents of other countries, and of minimum 18 years of age.

Volunteer work, references from their Universities, and any other activities related to the Hungarian culture are taken into consideration in the selection of the applicants.

During the four-week long programme, the students attend 80 Hungarian language classes, and they can participate in Hungarian studies lectures and extramural activities. Outside of class they will visit museums, have field trips and various programmes during which they can experience the Hungarian culture. At the end of the course, they will take an oral and a written exam.

Programme duration: 4 weeks (22 July 2019 – 16 August 2019)

Maximum number of scholarships to be awarded: 60

HUNGARIAN LANGUAGE AND HUNGARIAN STUDIES PROGRAMME
Call for scholarship application of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for the credit-based Hungarian Language and Hungarian Studies Programme in the academic year of 2019/2020

The scholarship is intended for individuals of non-Hungarian citizenship (and of non-Hungarian descency) to increase their Hungarian language competence and “Hungarology” knowledge acquired at universities outside Hungary.

The objective of the Hungarian Language and Hungarian Studies scholarship is to improve, broaden and strengthen the Hungarian language skills and “Hungarology” knowledge of graduate or undergraduate students of Hungarian studies. The two-semester course takes place in the MFA in Budapest with the cooperation of the University of Pécs. Individuals between the age of 18 and 35 years of non-Hungarian citizenship, whose native language is other than Hungarian, and are a graduate or undergraduate students of Hungarian studies are invited to apply.

The accredited training programme affiliated with the University of Pécs, offers 26–55 ECTS credit points. The training programme is coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Duration of the programme is 10 months (September 2019 – June 2020).

Applications will be evaluated by 29 March 2019 and applicants will be notified about the results within 7 workdays afterward via e-mail. Decisions on the applications are made by the MFA Board. All decisions are binding. MFA will not consider applications submitted after the deadline and/or incorrectly and/or incompletely and/or illegibly.

HUNGARIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL STUDIES PROGRAMME
Call for scholarship application of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for the Hungarian Language and Cultural Studies Programme in the academic year of 2019/2020

The scholarship is intended for individuals of Hungarian descent living outside of Hungary who wish to strengthen their language knowledge and cultural identity.

The objective of the Hungarian Language and Cultural Studies scholarship is to improve, broaden and strengthen the Hungarian language skills and cultural knowledge of young people of Hungarian descent, who are citizens and residents of other countries (the so-called “Western diaspora”). The two-semester course takes place in the MFA in Budapest with the cooperation of the KKM Oktatási és Rekreációs Kft. (KKMOR Kft., a background institution of the MFA). Individuals between the age of 18 and 35 years are invited to apply.

The programme consists of language and cultural studies and provides a great opportunity for participants to actively explore Hungary and contemporary Hungarian culture. In the framework of cultural studies, students learn about history, literature, geography, folklore, art history, and social issues. At the end of the programme, students take a final exam in the above subjects, defend their final essay, and take a Hungarian language exam officially recognized by the Hungarian state. (The level and type of the language exam are decided by the language skills examination board.)

Participants in the programme will receive a certification at the end of their studies.

Duration of the programme is 10 months (September 2019 – June 2020).

KLEBELSBERG KUNO SCHOLARSHIP

Following the spirit of Kuno Klebelsberg, the objective of the scholarship is to promote and support in Collegium Hungaricums and foreign Hungarian institutes, as well as in other locations the
- studying of written and material memories of the Hungarian language, literature, history, and culture,
- research in libraries and of manuscripts, archives, museums, and oral history for the purpose of exploration, conservation, and publication, as well as study trips abroad for cultural and scientific purposes,
- systematic exploration of collection-based Hungaricum materials to create a detailed inventory of them and if possible, making a copy of the relevant source materials,
- successful implementation of cultural diplomatic and professional work in Hungarian foreign institutions,
- studying issues related to cultural and artistic funding, modernization of public education and public collections (in particular, conservation systems and methods) for national public institutes, public collections, and other art institutes in accordance with EU standards,
- exploratory research on the thematic years and national anniversaries.
