Explore the mystery of Bluebeard’s Castle, Hungary’s blockbuster horror opera on Halloween night.

The Hungarian State Opera brings Béla Bartók’s masterpiece to the David H. Koch Theater, November 1st, 100 years after its premiere in Budapest. Admirers of the opera will be trick-or-treated the night before at the Consulate General of Hungary as one of the most knowledgeable Americans on Hungarian music, Michael Walsh unfolds its many layers.

A limited number of Bluebeard’s Castle fans will have the chance to learn about the origins of the Bartók play that fills opera halls all over the world, meet the creators and enjoy a dinner reception and great Hungarian wine in the accommodating Bartók Event Hall of the consulate.

The presentation of veteran music critique for TIME Magazine, journalist, screenwriter and insider on what makes Hungarian music so Hungarian, Michael Walsh will be accompanied by the artists bringing this classic to New York.

The event is free for ticket holders of the November 1st performance, but due to limited seating, registration is required.
