György Ferenczi & Rackajam

Saturday | October 18, 2014 | 9 pm
85 Avenue A, Basement, New York 10009 NY
Tickets | $10 |

Hungarian Rackajam plays an intense and intriguing fusion of 21st century urban folk music and traditional genres. The band’s music is an indefinable blend of rock n’ roll, soul, blues and of course many alternative and remarkable renditions of their own native folk music. They are among the most popular and sought-after acts on the Hungarian and Eastern European scene today.

The founder of the band is György Ferenczi, whose diatonic harmonica (blues-harp) sound is highly acclaimed across Europe and his instantly recognizable style makes every performance a one-of-a-kind experience! György as a solo artist has played on 270 albums in the last 20 years and has made 19 records of his own. Seven of these were recorded by Rackajam. The band’s multi-instrumentalists play mostly acoustic instruments, and while respecting tradition, they rejuvenate and reinvent folk music!
