The Last Modernist

Starting this Friday, February 3rd, the Film Society of Lincoln Center will host a retrospective series of Hungarian maestro Bela Tarr's complete works. Hailed as a visionary by the likes of Susan Sontag, Jim Jarmusch and Gus Van Sant, the films of this excellent director encompass the style and poise of Europe's cinematic school of modernism. His films range from piercing social-realist dramas to Communist-era allegories of domestic and social collapse. Following his triumphant appearance at the 2011 New York Film Festival,  the Film Society of Lincoln Center is pleased to present this retrospective of one of the world's greatest living filmmakers, culminating in the U.S. theatrical premiere of The Turin Horse at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.

Additional information about the film series can be found on the following website:

Tickets may be purchased online at the link above or in person at the Walter Reade Theater box office located at 165 West 65th Street. Special ticket offers do exist. Visit the Film Society website for more information.
